Cynthia Powell Artist Biography

Art blossomed in Powell when she began traditional art classes in Howell, Michigan, at a very young age. She diversified her formal training with Chinese ink painting classes at Michigan State University and a commercial art degree at Lansing Community College.

Powell worked in commercial art for a few years and, in 1997, relocated to Arizona where she joined the Phoenix Art Group. After a few years and several commercial art projects, she concentrated full-time on her real desire—to produce fine art. Powell is a much-diversified artist creating landscapes, florals, still life, abstracts and figurative art. Some of her current works reflect a fluid, simplistic flow influenced by her early training in Chinese ink painting.

Powell’s philosophy is to continue to explore a broader range of art so she can grow as an artist, and keep a newness and excitement in her works.
